“Show products from this advertiser” – AdWords PlusBox Expansion

Nov 27th, 2009 | By David Rothwell | Category: Why AdWords Works

Product "Plus Box" in Google Sponsored Links

Google Search Engineer David shows a neat feature on some of our Sponsored Links that gives you additional information about their products.

For E-Commerce product website owners only: how to add multiple images, descriptions and pricing information to your AdWords advertising campaigns – limited UK availability commencing January 2010 by application only

This extension to the normal AdWords service is currently in trial with only a few Agencies in the UK during Nov-Dec 2009 while Google is testing their results.

(If your AdWords Agency is not included in this program and you would like to participate, you can contact us to be considered)

Click this link to see the above search results example of the PlusBox Beta in action (new window – results will vary).

Then, consider the effect that multiple images, descriptions, and pricing could have on your current AdWords promotion.

  1. How to have the thumbnail picture of your product on your sponsored link, on a search page?

  2. You need:

    0. Products to sell (not services)
    1. An AdWords Manager or Agency invited to the beta test (currently closed in UK until January 2010 unless we hear otherwise from our account team at Google)
    2. Your AdWords account managed by that agency
    3. A (free) Google Merchant Centre account with your products loaded (formerly Froogle, or Google Base) and problem-free in line with Google policies (not as easy as it seems)
    4. The AdWords account linked to your Merchant Centre account

  3. How do I change the default text of ‘Show products from this advertiser’ in product extensions to the correct company name?

  4. At present I don’t believe you can.

    It’s preselected by Google.

When I last asked them about this, they were “still testing”.

(1) What is your biggest problem with Google AdWords? (2) What caused you to look for an answer? (3) How hard was it to find?
