Hi Adam,

no - no impression is recorded, only when your ad actually displays.

Hi,

If my ad is on the second page of the search results, but the user doesn't click
through to the second page of the search results (so the ad is never actually
displayed on the users computer screen), is this still counted as an impression?

Thanks

Thank you so much for your response! Of all the questions I've asked through other websites, your the FIRST to reply (and quickly too!). Thanks again! Do you offer any paid services where you will simply spend time with someone to help answer their questions? I am just learning Google Adwords and have been trying to find a tutor/mentor/teacher/someone to just help me with questions. I need to find someone to help me with common everyday questions during this learning process. If not you, do you know of any good places to get a real live person to help with AdWords questions? I might be in the right place on your site, I'm just not sure how to use it properly if I am. Thanks for your help!

Hi Joe,

thanks for your comment. I know your frustration.

Split-testing means giving multiple ads within the same ad group the ability to compete with each other equally and see if one out-performs the other. If so it becomes the "control" ad and you then try to beat it in its turn.

You need to set ad delivery to "Rotate" at the campaign level otherwise Google will serve the best performing ad more frequently, ruining your stats.

You can use a DKI ad (or ads) within the same ad group if you wish to see if it does better. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. It's all about testing...

You can use DKI anywhere in the ad. Syntax is {KeyWord:default text phrase}. (There are variations but this is the main idea).

Then if your keyword is typed in and triggers the ad, the keyword shows where the DKI string is. What's typed in must match your keyword exactly or it won't show, the default text string will.

I hope that's clearer. If not I'll have to publish a post on it.

(1) Finding direct and clear answers to questions. (2) Because I want to figure out the correct way to do something. (3) it is impossible to find an answer!

How do you split-test a standard ad vs. another ad using DKI? To clarify...one ad is using regular keywords such as broad, phrase, and exact. The other ad is utilizing Dynamic Keyword Insertion. I am LOST on how to set this up correctly.
